Smith Photography & Design is a photographic art studio dedicated to creating unique, contemporary portraits of children, dogs, and their families. Our passion for photography is centered around the time we spend photographing sweet, precious newborn babies, energetic young children, furry, silly little dogs, and the wonderful families that come with them. Heather, our primary photographer, brings nearly a decade of experience and education to each session. She's not afraid to kick off her shoes and play with the children that come into the studio, which in turn creates natural, comfortable expressions from the kids.

In early 2008, Heather passed a rigorous exam to become a Certified Professional Photographer. The program tests technical knowledge through a written examination, and practical knowledge through a 20-image portfolio of work judged by a panel of master photographers. She now sits on the national Certification Commission through Professional Photographers of America, encouraging other photographers to seek professional certification as well.

In January of 2010, Heather was honored with her Craftsman Degree, presented by Professional Photographers of America. The degree is earned through teaching, mentoring, and volunteer service in the organization, and is presented to a handful of photographers each year.

Professionally, Smith Photography & Design is an active member of the Professional Photographers of America, which means we subscribe to a strict code of ethics, and we're continually attending classes to become better at what we do. Additionally, the studio is a proud member of the Forsyth-Cumming Chamber of Commerce, which gives us further opportunity to become involved in the community we serve.
